Natural home treatment to reduce the muscle pain or cramps

Pain or strain of muscle is a common problem that arrests any one due to because of a physical activity which you haven’t done, whether it could a heavy workout in the regular exercise session or sitting in an uncomfortable position for a long time.

Muscle pain or cramps can be caused due to overuse of a muscle, stress, and dehydration. The root cause if a chemical signal from the nervous system, that the muscle to contract. Some more effective causes are:

  • Blood flow problems
  • Dehydration
  • Exercise, injury or overuse
  • Certain medication

Remedies for muscle pain

Stretching

Stretching the muscle, which is under the pain gives you quicker relief. But seek a professional help before trying it out. You are also suggested to take medical advice to ground any further complications.

Compress

Taking the help of compress is essential to move with when you are suffering with an extreme muscle sprain. You can choose any of the compresses either the cold or hot one. Select the type of compress according to the reason behind the muscle pain.

Take a rest

Giving sufficient amount of rest for your body helps the muscles to feel relax. It is one of the important remedy to be followed when the muscle pain is mild. Let your muscles relax for a few hours or giving a whole night’s sleep is known well to set the things right. You must also required to stay away from any movements that may multiply the pain.

Moist heat

It is one of the effective way to calm down the muscle pain. Moist heat will prepare the nerves to get enough relaxation. Add a tablespoon of Epsom salt to the hot water bath tub and soak your body in it for 10 to 15 minutes.

Ice cubes

Treating the muscles with ice packs gives a better relief from the pain. In fact, the ice pack is more effective in the case if you are having muscle pain associated with swelling as well. Take few ice cubes in a cotton cloth and  massage it over the affected area for nearly 20 minutes.

Hot showers

Hot showers, it is an excellent way to control the muscle pain. Heat makes the nerves weaken which are transmitting the pain signals.Take a hot shower, if you are being with sore muscles. It will give the quick relief from pain and relaxes body as well.

Movement

Give your muscles a mild movement, sometimes muscle pain is headed due to the reason of stiff muscles and moving them with the help of simple exercises will help to get back into your system. One can also find various kinds of rehabilitation exercises to ease the muscle sprain problem.

Essential oil

At the bad time of the muscle pain essential oil serves you good in controlling the pain. Blend one or two drops of essential oil with a tablespoon of carrier oil (like coconut oil) and massage it gently on the affected muscle area.

Massage

One of the excellent way to treat the muscle pain is through massage. Rub the paining muscle with any essential oil for a few minutes with the application of mild pressure. It gives you relief through boosting the flow of blood. Make sure you are massaging one direction to ring the quick relief.

Epsom salts

A cup or two Epsom salt is dissolved in a warm tub of water. It can wander for aching muscles. You have to use warm water, but not hot water.  The warm water will dry out your skin less than hot water. Soak for 15 minutes in warm water until the water has cooled. Repeat it three times per week. Epsom salt can be used that is made up of magnesium sulfate. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant, and that helps to pull excess fluids out of the tissues, reducing swelling.

Turmeric

The turmeric has anti-inflammatory agent and is an herb. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder in a cup of milk and heat them at low flame. Drink this milk twice a day that helps to heel internal healing. Alternatively, make a poultice by making equal amount of fresh grated turmeric with lemon juice and salt. Apply it over aching muscles. Leave it for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water. Repeat it twice a day until the pain is gone.

Ginger

Ginger has anti-inflammatory agent that can improve circulation and blood flow. It can relieve muscle pain. Raw ginger and heat treated ginger helps to lower muscle pain. It follows exercise that induces muscle injury. You just wrap 4 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger in a tightly sealed piece of cotton or a cotton bag. Keep them in hot water for less than one minute. Wait until it gets cool, then put it on the affected area for 15 minutes. Repeat it several times a day for 2 – 3 days.

In an alternative way, you can also drink three cups of ginger tea daily. Make this herbal tea, cut a small piece of ginger root and boil it in two cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain the solution, and add a little amount of honey into it.
