Toothpaste to get rid of acne scars & pimple spots

Nothing can ruin your day more than waking up and discovering you have a big pimple on your face! The feeling is almost killing, isn’t it? It can spoil your date, and even traumatise you mentally.

Here we will tell you about some easy tricks that you can use to heal acne scars and pimple spots using the most common bathroom item. Any guesses for what it is. Oh well, a toothpaste!

Toothpaste at your rescue!!!

Why does toothpaste help to dry out pimples?

Well, toothpastes necessarily contain ingredients like alcohol, menthol, baking soda, triclosan, hydrogen peroxide and essential oils.

All these work to bid goodbye to pimples. The absorption and cleansing properties of the toothpaste help in the acne-spot size reduction and its antibacterial properties aid in healing the skin-inflammation.

However, it should be remembered that toothpastes are actually meant for the teeth and not the skin, and therefore it may cause redness and irritation in some people due to their skin type. Be careful before using the same.

How to get rid of pimple rashes

Here is how you can use the magical formula to get rid of pimple spots and acne scars. Read on.

Direct application

Ensure you have a clean and dry skin before you start this treatment. Your skin should be oil and dirt free.

Take a little (pea-sized) amount of toothpaste on your index finger and apply it directly on the pimple or the scar. Do not spread it on the area because it is not a face pack! Leave the paste on your skin for at least two hours or overnight if you wish to.

Wash off the paste gently with warm water. Follow up with a moisturiser if you notice your skin is feeling too dry. Do not try this beyond four times in a week please.

Cinnamon mix

Ayurvedic face packs for pimples

This paste and cinnamon mix can help you seal the deal! Cinnamon helps to de-clog pores, has antibacterial properties that helps to bid goodbye to bacteria, and aids in drying out acne too.

All you need to do is, take a cup and mix two tablespoons of toothpaste with a teaspoon of cinnamon by stirring them well. Then apply this formula on the acne scars or pimple spots directly.

Let it stay for at least 5-10 mins. Wash it off with water later and pat your skin dry. You can repeat this regularly.

The honey treatment

While you may be afraid that the paste can cause redness and irritation, honey will help to relieve you. The latter has healing and anti-bacterial properties that will take care of the same.

Take half a spoon of raw honey and mix it with one tablespoon of toothpaste. Take a small amount and apply it on the affected part by coating a thin layer of the mixture on your skin. Keep it for at least 20 mins to let it dry. Then wash it off with warm water. Do it at least once in a day to see results.

The salt and paste combo

Salt is great for skin exfoliation, we are all aware of that. However, how many of you knew it can maintain the oil and pH balance of the skin? Well, salt helps to remove skin impurities and excess oil from the pores of the skin.

To get rid of acne scars, combine salt and toothpaste and mix them well before applying on the affected areas. Scrub those parts in a gentle manner avoiding force, for some minutes. Then rinse it off with warm water. Do this everyday for best results.

Remember that for the treatment to be effective you should use the right toothpaste. Choose the one that has less fluoride content, and do not use a gel or teeth-whitening toothpaste for this.

A white-colored toothpaste would do the trick. Please note, that toothpaste may not be a forceful solution for acne scars on a long-term basis, but it surely is the best temporary hack for the wretched acne woes!
