Dermatitis and eczema are considered to be a similar kind of skin problem but are actually not. Dermatitis is not as severe as eczema. Inflammation, swelling, itching, burning sensation, redness around the skin are some of the symptoms of dermatitis. Severe and acute dermatitis show symptoms like blisters, crusting and scaling of skin. Allergic reaction, certain environmental conditions, unhealthy lifestyle, and accumulation of toxins in the body, indigestion and nutritional deficiencies are some reasons for dermatitis.
What is dermatitis?
Dermatitis is a condition of the skin which refers to the inflammation and itching on the skin. The origin of the word comes from Greek where derma means skin and titis means inflammation. There are different types of dermatitis like contact, atopic, seborrheic dermatitis. It is a disease in which there is swelling, itching and burning sensation on the skin. These rashes have no special pattern and vary with the time of the rash. People suffering from acute dermatitis normally have blisters, clusters and scaling. Chronic sufferers of dermatitis have hardening of the skin.
Some of the common causes of dermatitis are allergic reactions, environmental conditions, toxins in the body and hereditary factors. People with thin delicate and dry skin are more prone to dermatitis.
Signs and symptoms of dermatitis
There are different symptoms for different types of dermatitis but still some symptoms are common. Constant itching sensation is an indication of a topic dermatitis. Stasis dermatitis is revealed by crushed skin inside the lower legs and ankles. Greyish, yellow scales that are seen deposited in and around the ears, on the scalp, or near the eyebrows give an indication of seborrheic dermatitis. Red patch located in one area indicates contact dermatitis Red, itchy, circular patches of crushed skin is seen on old people with dry skin, or people living in dry areas.

Chamomile flowers have therapeutic properties which you can always use at your home. Take a large bowl of water and add some chamomile flowers. Boil the water for a few minutes. Now allow the water to cool and then add some ice cubes to it. Dip the affected body part in this cold water for ten to fifteen minutes. This will sooth the affected body part and you will feel more relieved. Continue this until the symptoms have cleared.
Take 1 litre of water and add 50 grams of bilberries to it. Now warm the mixture and allow it to set for about 1 hour. This will make the mixture homogenous. Now boil the mixture again for twenty minutes. Now make it cool to room temperature. Now use this mixture as a cleanser. Clean the affected area using this mixture for two or three times in a day. Bilberries are effective to treat dermatitis to a great extent and this will make your skin healthy by protecting from various infections.
Coconut oil can help in treating dermatitis with its amazing antimicrobial and moisturizing properties. Apply some warm coconut oil on the affected area gently, and this will help to soften the skin. For better result, use virgin coconut oil daily.
Fresh new almond leaves are crushed with water to make it as a smooth paste. Apply this paste on the affected part and leave it there for few minutes. Now clean the area with lukewarm water and apply some moisturizing lotions. Do this for two to three times a day. You can see the change for sure.
Take an oatmeal bath, will keep your skin clean and provide you relief from irritation. Take one cup of fine powdered oatmeal and add it to lukewarm bathwater. Now soak yourself in this bathwater for fifteen to twenty minutes daily and you can see that your skin became more moisturized.Do this for one month for good result.

Apple cider vinegar
Take some apple cider vinegar and apply it directly on the affected skin area with the help of a clean cotton ball. Let it remain there for a few minutes and then clean the area with a damp cotton cloth. Do this daily for a few weeks to enjoy healthy and glowing skin.
Slippery elm bark
Slippery elm bark can be used as an effective skin wash. Allow one teaspoon of slippery elm bark, one teaspoon comfrey root, one teaspoon white oak bark in two cups of water to boil for about half an hour. Once the solution is cooled to room temperature, use it as a skin wash especially in the affected area. Do this for three to four times a day for quick results.
Aloe Vera is a widely used solution for skin problems because it will help to restore the pH balance of your skin.Apply fresh Aloe Vera gel several times in a day, and do this for a few months to get rid of the skin problems permanently. For better result you can also drink Aloe Vera juice.
Pure honey is mixed with water to make it diluted and then apply this to the infected area. Let it remain there for some time and then clean it. Do this for one month and see the change.

Indian lilac or neem leaves are helpful in the treatment of dermatitis. It helps in preventing many infections and to restore the lost strength of the skin. Make a paste with sesame oil, turmeric and grinded paste of neem leaves and apply it on the affected area. Leave it for a few hours and then wash it off. Alternatively have a bath with water to which few drops of neem oil is added.
The anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties in turmeric are very effective in the treatment of dermatitis. Boil turmeric in water and let the solution cool. Drink this solution and also apply it on the affected area. Continue the treatment regularly for a few months.
It a skin washes with is a solution made by boiling powdering oak bark, slippery elm bark, and comfrey root in a litre of water is an effective way to provide relief against irritations. The herbal qualities of the ingredients in the solution help to soothe the irritating inflammation.
Scratching the irritated areas must be avoided as it breaks the skin and causes secondary infections. It is advisable to trim the nails, and try to use fingers to massage the area to get relief from scratching.
