How to choose the right dermatologist

01

Match the clinical focus

For persistent rashes, psoriasis, paediatric concerns or suspected skin cancer, prioritise relevant medical experience over cosmetic services.

02

Check the qualification

Look for recognised postgraduate training in dermatology such as MD, DNB, DD or DVL and verify the current registration where appropriate.

03

Confirm before travelling

Schedules, hospital affiliations and consultation fees change. Call the hospital or use its official booking page before visiting.

Common questions

Dermatologist visits in Hyderabad

When should I see a dermatologist?

Consider a consultation for persistent acne, rashes, itching, unexplained hair loss, nail changes, a changing mole or any skin concern that is severe, recurrent or worsening. Seek urgent medical care for rapidly spreading rashes, breathing difficulty or other emergency symptoms.

What should I take to my first appointment?

Bring a list of medicines and skincare products, relevant test reports, prior prescriptions and photographs showing how an intermittent condition has changed. Avoid starting or stopping prescribed treatment without medical advice.

Are cosmetic clinics and dermatology clinics the same?

No. A dermatologist is a medically qualified doctor trained to diagnose and treat skin, hair and nail disease. Cosmetic clinics may offer aesthetic services, but their staff and medical oversight can vary.
