A decent height contributes to the overall presentation of an individual. Few kids thrive as their age increases. But, many suffer from inappropriate increases in size. One can find several factors that cause an increase in height or keep it static.
Changes in teenagers at and around 15 years of age
Puberty is the time when the body of teenagers goes through gradual changes. Growth in muscles, body shapes, and development of hairs in some pubic regions are visible. Various hormones are responsible for the physical changes that happen during puberty.
- The first among such hormones to be produced is called Gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH). It is formed in part of the brain, which later divides into controlling growth, metabolism, and other controlling reproductive organs.
- The following gonadotropin hormones are the follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) and luteinizing hormones (LH). These two work together to activate gamete production in males or females by triggering the production of sex cells.
Increase in height during puberty
Height affects the teenager’s self-perception and social relations. It has been proven that adult women who were small as teenagers tend to be more dissatisfied with their size than those who were average height teenagers.
A study done by M. D. Viner found that teenage girls taller than their peers at age 16 were more satisfied with their height at age 17 than those who were shorter, indicating that extreme heights or being extremely tall can have negative effects.
One University of Toronto study found that 5 feet 3 inches is the ideal height for women, though this factor has largely remained unchanged since the 1920s.

Top 5 ways to grow boys taller at 15 with foods and exercise?
1) Eat enough food
Make sure your child eats healthy and sufficient amounts of proteins, calcium (dairy), Vitamin D, and fat in their diet. They should also get enough calories every day. If you’re constantly worried that they’re not eating, then feed them when they wake up, before going to school, after school, before bed, etc., without making them feel like they’re starving themselves like a stray dog in an alley…if you make them hungry constantly, they’ll never want to eat anything and stop growing.
2) Sleep
Make sure your child goes to sleep on time and sleeps enough hours every night. If they’re not sleeping, their body isn’t getting enough darkness to produce melatonin, a hormone that promotes growth in the bones of kids and teenagers. This also applies to adults too!
3) Calcium & Vitamin D
Kids need these two vitamins especially at the ages of 10-13…before puberty kicks in. During puberty, sex hormones (testosterone and estrogen…the female ones!) start influencing bone metabolism like crazy, making kids grow like weeds around that age.
The only way for him to get plenty of calcium and vitamin D throughout his childhood is if he drinks milk or orange juice. There are no other readily available, cheap, and healthy foods that he’ll be able to eat in large quantities. These are rich in calcium and vitamin D. If your son isn’t doing well at school, you can assume that he’s not eating or sleeping enough.
4) Exercise
Exercise is always for your health, but it’s also necessary if you want to grow taller at 15! If your child isn’t exercising, then they won’t be able to get the Vitamin D, potassium, zinc, and magnesium they need from food alone…which means their bones will never grow more than 1-2 centimeters per year! Boys who exercise every day have been shown to have grown almost 3 cm of height on average after 10 years..
5) Genetics
Genetics also plays a role in determining how tall someone will be when they’re older. If your child is going through puberty late, which isn’t uncommon nowadays since most kids are so malnourished, they might not have grown any noticeable height by the time their 16th birthday comes around. They definitely won’t have grown over 3. Inches from that point on either!
There is no quick way to make a kid taller. They won’t grow taller by forcing them to drink protein shakes or take vitamins, nor will they grow taller if compelled to do postural exercises every day. The only thing that makes kids grow taller are three things: Time, hormones and genetics. If your son wasn’t that tall for his age when he was younger, then it’s unlikely that he’ll be very tall as an adult.
Of course, you can make your child taller by stretching out his body on a rack every day. Overdoing it causes potential damage to joints, especially those as fragile as the growth plates of teenagers. It’s better to let him grow naturally without forcing too much.
Similarly, if his father isn’t very tall, then neither will your son be very tall either. He might still get a growth spurt at 18 or 19, but the difference between 17 and 19 is almost negligible in terms of height gains…even if he does have a growth spurt! At this age kids are almost done growing, and most of the growth that will happen is a result of a few whatever hormones there are floating around in his blood.
The best way to make them grow taller is to make sure they eat enough food…and healthy food at that! Giving them less than what they need will not make them grow taller; it’ll stunt their growth! Include lots of protein (red meat), calcium (dairy), and vitamin D-rich foods in their diet. They should also get enough fat, but not too much of it!
