The celebrity fever is catching up fast with Indian elections 2019. After the hullabaloo over actor Akshay Kumar’s ‘non-political’ interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the controversy over the actor’s Canadian passport, Bollywood celebrities are under the radar.

People are constantly catching up with the news of whether or not their favorite actors have voted.

From Priyanka Chopra to Madhuri Dixit, Shilpa Shetty, Anushka Sharma and Shabana Azmi, Bollywood actresses of all ages came forward to do their bit for the nation.

However, people want to know about the actresses who couldn’t make it to the voting premises. What stopped them from showing their love to the nation?

Here is a list of some of the top Bollywood actresses who did not vote in the Lok Sabha elections 2019:

Nargis Fakhri

Born and brought up in Queens, New York City, Nargis Fakri holds an American passport. The beautiful actress managed to win the hearts of thousands of cine-goers after her first role in the year 2011 in Rockstar. She received a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut nomination for her performance in this blockbuster romantic drama. The actress went on to gain popularity with other Bollywood hits such as Main Tera Hero, Madras Café, Housefull 3 and Spy. Did this popular actress cast her vote? No. This American passport holder is barred from doing so.

Alia Bhatt

Renowned as one of the youngest talents in the industry, Alia is immensely skilled and widely appreciated for her sterling performances on screen. However, her political report card isn’t that impressive. Alia Bhatt has a British citizenship. Her mother Soni Razdan is of British origin. Hence, she cannot vote. To be eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, she must give up her British nationality.

Jacqueline Fernandez

The beautiful actress did not vote because she was born in Bahrain. Her father is a Sri Lankan and mother Malaysian. Although Fernandez managed to make a mark in the Hindi movie industry, she does not have an Indian citizenship. Hence, she did not cast her vote.

Katrina Kaif

One of the most beautiful actresses of Hong Kong, Katrina Kaif didn’t cast her vote. She was born in Hong Kong and cannot vote in India. The actress was born to Kashmiri father and English mother. She travelled to France at the age of eight and then to Switzerland where she spent a few months of her life. Other European countries including Poland and Belgium have served as homes for the actress during her young age. She migrated to England where she spent three years of her life before finally shifting to India and pursuing her career in Bollywood.

Sunny Leone

Born as Karenjit Kaur to a Sikh family in Sarnia, Ontario Canada, Sunny Leone has her roots in India. However, the actress cannot vote in India. She holds a Canadian passport and is a Canadian citizen. Hence, she does not hold any rights allotted solely for Indian citizens.

Therefore, these were the Bollywood actresses who didn’t vote for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The actresses are actually not permitted to do so and couldn’t do their bit to give India its new prime minister.
