How to use honey to treat acne scars
Honey and Baking soda
Mix raw honey(two teaspoons) with baking soda(one teaspoon) and apply it on the affected area. Scrub it lightly in clock-wise motion. Do this for five minutes and then wash it off with water. Baking soda helps to cleanse the skin and remove the dead cells which have accumulated inside the acne. The anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help to remove scars and relieves a person who is suffering from acne.
Honey and Turmeric
Combine a pinch of turmeric with a tablespoon of honey. Don’t add too much of turmeric as it will leave a yellow stain. Apply it on the affected area and keep it for half an hour. Wash with water. The healing and antiseptic properties of turmeric and acne will take care of the acne right away.
Cinnamon and Honey
Mix a teaspoon of cinnamon powder with honey (two tablespoons) and form a paste that has the right consistency. Apply it all over your face or only the affected area for fifteen minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water. Both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties are present in cinnamon and it helps to take care of the acne. The properties of Cinnamaldehyde in cinnamon is effective on acne too.
Honey and Apple cider vinegar
Mix equal portions of Apple cider vinegar and water in a bowl. Massage your skin with honey and leave it for half an hour. Wash your face with water and then use the solution of water and apple cider vinegar. This will work as a toner. Apple cider vinegar has the power to balance the pH level of the skin with it’s acidic properties. The astringent and anti-microbial properties of Apple cider vinegar aren’t unknown to anyone either.
Honey and Aspirin
Crush three aspirins and mix it with a teaspoon of water and honey. Apply this mask on the area that is affected by acne and allow it to dry. After fifteen minutes wash it off. The acetylsalicylic acid helps to clear the pores of the skin and ends up drying the acne. Always moisturize your skin once you have washed off the mask.
Honey and Oatmeal
Prepare half a cup of oatmeal and add two teaspoons of honey in it. Allow it to cool and apply it all over the affected area. After half an hour, wash it off with cold water. The saponins removes the impurities of the skin and soothes the pain and reduces redness and inflammation.
Sugar and Honey mask
Mix one teaspoon of brown sugar in a tablespoon of honey. You have to apply it on the affected area before the sugar has melted. After fifteen minutes wash it with lukewarm water. The excessive oil and presence of dead skin cells cause the breakout of acne. This is taken care of my sugar. It also frees your pores and helps to improve the texture of your skin making it smoother.
Honey and Nutmeg
Combine one teaspoon of nutmeg powder with honey (one teaspoon). Use this mixture to cover the areas that are affected with acne. After half an hour wash with water. Macelignan is an ingredient found in nutmeg which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The scars of acne will be erased in a matter of fact if you continue this for a few weeks. If you are having a sensitive skin make sure to do a small test before applying it on your face.
Honey and Sea salt
In two teaspoons of hot water add one teaspoon of honey and sea salt. Keep this on your face for fifteen minutes and then wash it off. Moisturize it afterwards. Not only does it have anti-bacterial goodness but it also has the power to heal. The oil production in your skin is taken care of too. If you apply too much pressure applying the sea salt you might face the problem of irritation and inflammation.
Honey and Coconut oil
Add a teaspoon of coconut oil in raw honey. Keep the quantities of both in the same ratio. You have to make sure that both the ingredients are dissolved well. For fifteen minutes let it sit on your face and then wash with water. Coconut Oil is the best thing to treat the problems of the skin. Eczema and psoriasis can be treated with coconut oil. It keeps the skin hydrated and nourishes from within. The sebum production is maintained too.
Honey and Tea tree oil
Add two drop of tea tree oil in a tablespoon of honey. Apply it like a mask all over your face for a few minutes. Wash with lukewarm water. antifungal, antibacterial, antiparasitic and antiprotozoal properties are found in this essential oil. The healing process to treat the acne is taken care of by Tea tree oil. It also kills the bacterias which are responsible for pimples.
Strawberry and Honey
The salicylic acid found in strawberries is effective in curing the problems of acne. It also reduces the excessive production of oil in the skin. Wash your face with lukewarm water and dry it. Mix honey(two tablespoons) with strawberries (three to four). Make sure to form a nice paste. Apply a thin layer of this paste on your face and affected areas and wash it off with water after half an hour. Doing this thrice every week for a few months will show you great results.
Honey and Garlic
In a bowl mix three cloves of garlic with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Add one and a half teaspoon of honey in it. Make a thick paste with all the ingredients in it. Apply this on your face as a mask and the areas affected by acne. After ten minutes wash it off with lukewarm water. Garlic has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It kills the bacterias that cause acne.
Honey and Green tea
- To a boiling cup of hot water add a bag of green tea.
- Slowly open the bag of green tea and add a teaspoon of honey in it.
- Once the tea you made has cooled down wash your face with it.
Then apply the paste of honey and green tea leaves. After half an hour wash it off.
Green Tea has the properties of antioxidants. It is rich in tocopherols, carotenoids, minerals and tocopherols.
Green Tea reduces the excessive production of sebum. Cures the skin from the scars caused by acne too.
Lime and Honey mask
Mix one teaspoon of lime zest, half a teaspoon of lime juice, one teaspoon of sugar and a tablespoon of honey. Mix all the ingredients well and apply it on the acne affected area. Wash it after half an hour. The alpha-hydroxy acid in like helps to get rid off dead and hyper pigmented skin cells. It removes the impurities that clog the pores of the skin. Vitamin C in lime also helps to heal acne.
Honey and Tomato
Use one tablespoon of freshly made tomato puree. Add honey(two tablespoons) to this and combine them together. Now, massage this mixture gently on the area that is affected with acne. After a few minutes wash it off with cold water. The antifungal and anti-bacterial properties in tomato help to treat the causes of acne and protects it from any damge with it’s properties of being an antioxidant.
Honey and Neem
To make Neem powder, which you will be needing here. You need to sun-dry a handful of washed neem leaves. Grind the leaves to get the powder you need. Use two tablespoons of the freshly made neem powder and add two tablespoons of honey to it. Apply it on the area that is affected with acne. Wash it off after ten minutes.
Neem has medicinal properties. It can heal the problems of the skin and give it the immunity it needs to fight acne. You must also remember it has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties which are great to treat the causes of acne.
Honey and Red sandalwood
In a small bowl add two teaspoons of honey to the powder of red sandalwood(two teaspoons) and mix well. To maintain the perfect consistency add a teaspoon of water. Cover the areas affected with acne and allow it to dry. Wash it off with cold water and moisturize your skin with a non-alcoholic and water based cream. The ayurvedic properties found in Red sandalwood make it such a great ingredient when it comes to fighting acne. It gives you a glowing, spotless and supple skin. The inflammation caused by acne is treated with the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and antiseptic properties of sandalwood.
Olive oil and Honey
Combine two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and honey in a bowl. Apply this mixture on the affected areas and massage in circular motion. Do this for a few minutes, don’t apply too much pressure and make sure you go in circular motion. Soak a clean piece of cloth in hot water. Wring the excessive water from it and wipe the mixture from the face. Your skin needs hydration and olive oil has the power to keep your skin spotless, glowing and supple.
Milk and Honey
In a bowl combine whole milk(half a tablespoon) with honey(one tablespoon) and mix well. Massage this mixture in clockwise direction on the affected acne region. After half an hour wash it with warm water. Milk has the power to remove the impurities of the skin and cleanse it. The lysozyme and lactoferrin in milk are the anti-bacterial agents keeping the causes of acne away. Those who are allergic to dairy products must not try this out on their skin.
