Ginger is a very common kitchen ingredient and can very easily be found in any Indian household. It is primarily used for adding flavors to various dishes. However, apart from adding extra flavors and medicinal properties, ginger is also used for treating dandruff problem.

How to get rid of dandruff with ginger?

Ginger and onion for dandruff

Home remedies for dandruff

This hair mask is very powerful and along with preventing dandruff also helps in hair regrowth. This hair mask is packed with the goodness of onion and therefore after using this hair mask for 3-4 times only you will notice your hair quality improved. For this remedy, you will need a small onion, a 2 inch ginger root and 2 tablespoons of coconut. Peel both the onion and the ginger and cut them into small pieces. Put all the ingredients into a blender jar and prepare a smooth paste. Apply the hair mask prepared on your scalp and keep it on for around 20 minutes. Rinse off using a mild shampoo. Use the hair mask for 2-3 times a week for better results.

Onions contain high amount of sulfur which helps in minimising hair breakage and dandruff. When combined with ginger, the hair mask prepared helps in fighting with bacteria causing dandruff.

Ginger and baking soda hair mask

For this remedy you will need two ginger roots, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 4 spoons of honey. First, start by extracting the juice of the ginger and mix it with the honey and baking soda. Apply the mask prepared on your scalp and keep it on for around 15-20 minutes and then wash off using a mild shampoo. You need to use this remedy for twice a week.

Baking soda acts as a great exfoliator and helps in exfoliating the dead skin cells from our scalps which helps in opening the clogged pores. Doing this helps in improving the oxygen flow to the hair roots. Both ginger and baking soda are having antifungal properties which helps in removing the dandruff causing fungus. Honey on the other hand, helps in moisturising the hair and makes it manageable as well.

Ginger and gooseberry oil for dandruff

For this remedy you will only need two ingredients, ginger juice and gooseberry oil. In india, gooseberry is known as amla and helps in fighting with dandruff causing bacteria present on our scalp. Mix 2 tablespoons of ginger root juice with equal amount of gooseberry oil and apply on the scalp. Keep the mask for 20 minutes and then wash off with a herbal shampoo. Repeat 2 times a week for better results.

Indian gooseberry is rich in vitamin C, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, therefore, is perfect for treating dandruff issue.

Ginger and castor oil

Both ginger and castor oil are beneficial when it comes to treating various hair problems. For this remedy, you will need 2 tablespoons of ginger juice and one spoon of castor oil.

Extract fresh Ginger juice and mix it with the castor oil.  Apply the mixture prepared on your scalp and gently massage for about 10 minutes. Massaging will also increase the blood flow to your hair roots. Keep it overnight and rinse it off the next morning using a mild shampoo. Repeat this procedure for 2 to 3 times a week for fast results.

Castor oil and Ginger is having anti inflammatory,  antibacterial and antifungal properties. Combining both these ingredients to treat hair problems is therefore very useful. Castor oil also makes the hair very soft and manageable.

Ginger and aloe vera gel

Aloe vera is rich in vitamin E which is one of the most overlooked vitamins, it is however loaded with antioxidants which is having the capability for treating and repairing tissues. When aloe vera is combined with Ginger, the effectiveness increases. Therefore, using this remedy you will be able to notice visible results within just a few applications.

For this remedy you need 2 tablespoon of fresh Ginger juice, 3 tablespoon of aloe vera juice and a spoonful of coconut oil. In a clean bowl mix all the above mentioned ingredients to prepare a smooth mixture. Apply this mixture on your scalp and keep it for around 20 to 30 minutes and rinse it using a mild or herbal shampoo. You need to repeat this procedure for 2 times a week.

Ginger and lemon juice

Apple cider vinegar for dandruff

This is yet another effective and easy home remedy to treat dandruff hair problem. All the ingredients needed for this remedy are very easily available. For this remedy you will need 2 tablespoon of fresh Ginger juice, 3 tablespoon of yoghurt and a spoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Mix all the ingredients mentioned in a clean bowl and apply to the roots of your hair or scalp. keep the mixture on your hair roots for about 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse it off using a herbal shampoo. Repeat it twice a week for fast result.

Lemon contains antifungal properties, citric acid and Vitamin C which are very beneficial for fighting dandruff causing fungus. It also helps in providing moisture to use can and shed away any dead skin cells present in your scalp. Apart from it, it also helps in maintaining the pH balance of the  scalp. Yoghurt, on the other hand. is rich in vitamin B5 and also helps in moisture rising their hair.
