Tips for glowing skin this summer
Skin is very important part of our body and needs to be taken care in various ways during different seasons. Changes in seasons and temperature affect our health and beauty to a very big extent. However, by being informative and taking a bit extra care can help us stay healthy and younger looking for long without any big problem. Summer is actually good for skin health because we sweat a lot naturally in this season without going to gym. Sweating opens up skin pores and let the skin breathe but at the same time, it brings the problems of dry skin, sun tan and sunburn too. Nevertheless, with little care we can get glowing skin without much effort even in summer.
Hydrate your skin
First and the most important tip for glowing skin in summer is to hydrate your skin well by drinking enough fluids like plain water; fruit juices, sherbet, buttermilk, lemonade etc. although avoid taking liquids, which are high in caffeine. Have shower to clean your skin at least twice a day. It not only cleans the dirt and sweat but keep you cool also in scorching heat. Do not forget to scrub your skin with natural products like rice flour or gram flour. It will scrub off any dead skin from your body and help in growing new and healthy skin.
Protect your skin
Although summer is the time to wear swimming costumes, bikinis and short dresses but it is recommended to cover your skin as much as possible whenever going out in the sun. Wear light colour cotton clothes, which cover your skin mostly from direct exposure in the sun. Whenever you plan to go out in the sun, do not forget to apply sun lotion on any open and exposed part of you. It is recommended to use sun lotion with SPF 15 or higher. Use things like umbrella, sunglasses, hats etc to hide your skin from the direct exposure to the sun; especially the areas around your eyes. Exposed to UV rays of sun even for few minutes can do long term damage. Use makeup with SPF 15 or more.
Care for your skin
It is advisable to use mostly natural products like fruit mask, honey etc. to take care of your skin during summer. There are so many face and body mask available in market or in your kitchen as per different skin type. Papaya, buttermilk, honey, olive oil, banana, fuller’s earth are all very good for skin care during summer. You can choose the perfect mask as per skin type and use whichever suits you the best. Raw potato is very helpful for black circles around eyes and sun tan. Fuller’s earth mask is good for cooling the sun burnt skin.
Eating right food for healthy skin
Skin is the reflection of your inner health, so eating right is very important to achieve beautiful and glowing skin. During summer avoid eating heavy and oily food; in fact, you should eat less than you normally eat and increase your liquid intake and drink kinds of fluids like buttermilk, lemonade, fruit juices and water. Eat fresh and seasonal fruits like coconut, melon or anything available in your local market. You should avoid eating ice-cream or other cold stuff which mostly popular during summer, it only helps in gaining weight and reduce your water intake, instead you should take more things like fruit or vegetable salad, clear soup or stock.
The last but certainly not the least important thing about summer season is to try not to sit up in AC for long hours and let your body clematis itself naturally.
Proper exfoliation is a beginning step towards getting a glowing skin. Without exfoliation, moisturizer cannot give a glowing skin. For the removal of dead skin which gets collected on the face and on many other parts of the body, exfoliation is very much needed. For scrubbing the dead skin off the body use an exfoliating sponge or a massager. By making a paste of oatmeal, milk and besan you can prepare a homemade scrubber. Rub the scrubber gently on your body in circular motion for at least 3 minutes and the wash it off. Do this process 2 to 3 times a week.
Use a good quality cleanser to thoroughly cleanse your skin at least twice a day. If you have a skin prone to acne then try a cucumber and aloe Vera gel based cleanser. You make cleanser in your home too which is both effective and natural. A natural cleanser which not only cleanses the skin but also moisturizes it is honey mixed in plain yogurt. Apply it on your skin and wash it with plain water after 10 minutes.
Never stop moisturizing your face and body in any kind of weather. Ignore the moisturizers which are oil based and go for those which are water based. To get a soft and smooth skin massage it gently. When you just get out of the shower that is the proper time to moisturize your skin as your body is damp then. Moisturizing your skin in the night will give you a glowing skin and also will protect the skin during the hours of sleeping.
Toxins can be removed with the help of exercise and also glowing skin can be got. To stay fresh and feel good do workouts which are simple and also do yoga every morning. Do a lot of walking in case you are too lazy and cannot workout. Walking will help in reducing the extra pounds and you will also get a fresh and healthy skin. The circulation of blood in our body is also increased with the help of exercise which in turn gives us a natural and glowing skin.
Homemade mask for removal of tan can be prepared. Form a paste using 2 to 3 almonds, lime juice only 1 teaspoon and milk 2 teaspoons and then apply it on the face keeping it overnight. Use lukewarm water to wash it in the morning. Not only the tan will be removed but also you will be gifted with a natural glowing skin. If you want you can also mix and honey and juice of lemon in equal proportions then put it on your face for 20 minutes. This is considered to be one of the simplest tans removing solution. Applying cucumber juice also will soothe and neutralize your skin and will reduce the harsh sun rays effects. You can also make a paste using 1 teaspoon of gram flour, 1 teaspoon of milk and few drops of the juice of lime. Apply that paste on your face keeping it for 30 minutes. This will provide you with face glow and radiance.
Almost 30 minutes before going out in the sun apply sunscreen as it has high SPF content. It will not only prevent darkening of skin and damages in the skin but also prevents harsh UVA rays which can cause skin cancer. Go for a sunscreen which is waterproof and apply it every 2 hours. Try not to go out between 10 am to 4 pm because during that time the sun rays are the harshest and can cause adverse effects to your skin.
